What is the Alexander Technique?

A proven approach to self care, the Alexander Technique teaches how to unlearn habitual patterns that cause unnecessary tension in everything we do. It is not a form of treatment or a series of exercises, but rather a means for reeducating the mind-body as a whole.

Instruction in the Technique involves verbal cues and gentle hands-on guidance as the student goes through simple acts of sitting, standing, and walking. These movements involve the entirety of our postural mechanism, so it isn't necessary to perform any other concoction of exercises. New habits learned will easily translate to all other activities.

The Alexander Technique is used by people of all ages and abilities to enhance the performance of every activity and relieve the pain and stress caused by everyday misuse of the body.
